Two Steps That Will Transform Your Life

Making room for God in your life may look different from person to person. Some may make room for God by doing their devotions and reading their Bible, while others feel that going to church every Sunday is all they have to do. If I asked you how you are making room for God on a daily basis, how would you answer?

Whatever way you choose to make room for God, did you also make space to hear his voice? Now you may be thinking, isn’t that the same thing? If I made time for God when I pray, read my word or go to church, then he will speak to me right? Let me ask you another question. Have you ever been sitting around the table with people talking and you are trying to speak but everyone either keeps talking over you or time runs out before you got a chance to speak? Many of us probably have been in this position and sadly enough we also tend to put God in this position as well. Without consciously doing it, many of us make room for God at our table but we aren’t given him a chance to talk. I know I sure did.

Making room for God is one thing, but making space for his voice will transform your whole life! It will give you clarity, demolish the dream killer we call comparison, direct your steps, and allow you to tap into the life-changing power God gave you access to.

So, you may already be making time for God by reading devotionals or going to church but how do you make room for God’s voice? Well, my friend, you can do this by doing only 2 things to start. And I say start because on this journey with God you will be learning and growing as long as you are alive.

Two things that you can start to do to make more room in your life for God’s voice is simply pausing and listening more.

  1. Pause and sit in silence after you pray and read your word.

  2. As you are sitting in silence, Listen. Give God the chance to speak to you about what you just prayed about. That is what we want after all right? We want God to answer our prayers, so we have to listen and give him a chance to talk.

Once you have paused and taken some time to listen for God’s voice, WRITE! Write whatever is on your mind to write. Sometimes we do not always know if it is God’s voice but the more we spend quality time with him, the more clear he will make life for us.

So, I have one last question for you. What are you going to do to ensure you pause and listen more during your time with God?
